I am an accomplished, recently retired real estate veteran based in Colorado. For 32 years, I served as the chairman of Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners and spearheaded the acquisition and development of over 15 million square feet of real estate, of which Etkin had ownership stake in. I am blessed to have been highly successful both in my career and community endeavors, and now have a platform in which I can be more involved in the causes I believe in.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Colorado in 1975 and opened my first business, Etkin Construction, in 1980. I grew the business to be the 4th largest general contractor in Colorado by 1990 and then sold the business to focus full-time on Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners, which I co-founded with David Johnson. Together, we ran the business before selling our portfolio and winding down the firm in 2021.

Even in retirement, I am deeply committed to Denver and actively participate in the communities I live in through community endeavors, charitable board contributions and board positions. I currently serve on the board of the Aspen Community Foundation, Aspen Art Museum and Urban Land Institute, and am involved in several community-driven causes and charities. I previously served on the boards for Aspen Valley Ski Club, Aspen Country Day School and Food Bank of the Rockies and was a trustee of the Urban Land Institute.

I am an extremely dedicated, competent and compassionate individual who possesses abundant resources to be a positive advocate for all walks of life. I exhibit a conscientious and meticulous work ethic, a keen eye for detail and excellent communication and intervention skills, all of which contribute toward solid, long-lasting working relationships.

I have a loving and caring life/soul partner, Laurel Gilbert, and am the father of three beautiful adult children, two boys and a girl. Lauren and I spend our summers and winters in Aspen, occupying the remainder of our time in Moab, where we recently completed our second home. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, with a particular proclivity for skiing, biking, hiking and running. I am also very passionate about the arts. Many people have commented that I am the happiest person they know.
